Job description
Our client is looking for 2 experienced Business Development Managers as the company is going through a significant growth and development.
In terms of location, this is quite flexible, and they are open minded to candidates based anywhere south of Birmingham. Dependent on where their first hire is situated, this will then determine where the 2nd appointment could be located, and so as to cover a regional footprint across the South.
You will be looking after an existing portfolio of insurance intermediaries focusing on retention and new business development. This is a home-based working role where you will report into their regional head office based in the North of England.
This is a Business Development Manager opportunity which requires someone to be sales focused and ideally has existing broker relationships within the geographical area you will be covering.
To be successful you need to be a results driven Business Development Manager with a proven track record in a similar role.
It is essential that you have previous commercial insurance experience from either a broking or insurer background, or both. You will be given flexibility and a lot of autonomy, and it would ideally suit someone who has a proactive approach and is comfortable being in a sales environment working to sales targets set by management. In return, you will be provided with additional support from senior management and a strong team of underwriters to ensure you can maximise every possible opportunity to being successful in performing this role to its full potential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement commercial strategies to deliver the growth plans across Group companies.
- Generate new business opportunities by supporting, organising or attending broker events, and building new relationships across the region.
- Deliver growth targets within agreed strategic targets by managing pipeline activities, growth opportunities and ensuring these are aligned to plan to include ensuring the maintenance of the prospect pipeline.
- Ensuring the wider business has clarity on the distribution and growth strategy as well as engagement on individual client initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with each area of the business and directly with the Product and Underwriting teams to ensure agreed goals are exceeded and timelines are met.
- Manage the on-boarding process for Brokers to deliver a great customer experience, ensuring that due diligence processes are completed, and customer records are fully updated.
- Monitor performance of commercial activities of your panel using key metrics and prepare reports for the Group Trading Director including market information and broker feedback to ensure a full understanding of your area, market and broker panel.
- Fully understand company capabilities, policies, and processes to ensure scheme opportunities fit the required profile for the Company.
EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE
- Experienced sales professional with a proven track record of achieving sales targets.
- Experience and knowledge in multi distribution strategies and effective B2B sales strategies.
- Proven track record in a Broker Facing Development Role with the ability to build and maintain profitable relationships.
- Fluent communication skills (verbal and written) and the capability to build understanding and trust.
- Strong influencer and decision maker.
- Highly energised with a ‘can do’ attitude.
- Excellent team player ensuring you share ideas.
- Able to identify and interpret relevant information and key issues.
- Able to identify problems and make effective decisions.
- A broad and detailed knowledge of general insurance products and awareness of competitor advantage and competitor activity.
- A good understanding of how an MGA works and ability to adapt to different scenarios.
