We are very pleased to be working with this very reputable and professional insurance company who is seeking an experienced Strategic Account/Business Development Manager to be based remotely in and around the Southwest of England. Our client has maintained a reputation as one of the best property casualty insurers in the industry for over 160 years.
This is a newly created role, and it is a fantastic opportunity where the company fully support career development/progression within, and there would be a great deal of autonomy in managing your time effectively.
The Opportunity
You will have experience in a similar Distribution management role, or maybe have a background as a Development Underwriter or Account Manager and you are looking for the next step up.
As a Regional Distribution/Business Development Manager, you will execute the distribution strategy across all lines of business including Financial Lines, Property & Casualty, SME, and Lloyds. You will be responsible for managing all of their strategic broker partner relationships within your region, delivering a single proposition. You will help develop and manage the profitable growth across all Planning Lines within the Region by leading and engaging with Underwriting colleagues to maximise visibility and broker interaction across the wider business.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage the company’s relationship with key brokers in the region and to ensure achievement of agreed business targets and goals.
- Accountable for sales pipeline strategy and delivery in the region, including usage of pipeline data, collaboration with local Development Underwriter colleagues.
- Responsible for creating the Regional “trading platform” including regular sales meetings, sales training and product training in the Region.
- Collaborate and engage with development underwriters to identify profitable underwriting opportunities, to provide sales oversight and that there is a consistent and appropriate sales approach to broker visits from the relevant branch area.
- Develop and maintain a high level of market visibility and quality broker interactions including a strong breadth of working relationships.
- Obtain market information and feedback from Brokers and assist with market research for product development as required.
- Monitor and report on regional sales performance.
- Regularly monitor and review the existing Agency panel within the geographical area and to reassess potential, creditworthiness and cost effectiveness of existing agency accounts
- Assess new Agency account Applications in conjunction with the Agency Department and within the Company's strict selection criteria
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues in Head Office and with all Business Divisions, Underwriting, Risk Control, Claims, Actuarial and Compliance departments as needed any other parts of the organisation
- Be an integral part of the Distribution team and attend company meetings, corporate functions and seminars as required

Dependent on experience, the basic salary is from £50K to £75K (Possibly more) with excellent additional benefits such as Car Allowance, PMI, Bonus, Pension, and a generous holiday entitlement.
The company could also consider if you are due a bonus next year, to offset this within their offer of employment so you don’t miss out on any financial incentive.
