This is a new and exciting opportunity to work for leading Global Insurance company with offices throughout the UK.
Our insurer client is seeking an experienced Lead Underwriters to work from their city centre Birmingham operation to join them to be aligned to a portfolio of brokers/customers to proactively develop and profitably grow their commercial book of business within the company.
In this Lead role you will be responsible for mentoring and coaching less experienced colleagues in writing and winning more complex, higher value business, whilst maintaining a multiclass underwriter approach when dealing end to end with brokers/customers.
This role would be dealing with existing business.
Skills and experience they are looking for are:
- Expert knowledge of Insurance and Commercial underwriting, experience of property & liability is essential.
- Excellent communication, listening, time management and negotiating skills.
- Analysis of risks and ability to communicate and present effectively to brokers and/or customers.
- Familiar with applying underwriting knowledge to effectively improve processes/procedures, whilst being responsible for own underwriting caseloads within a regulatory environment.
- Excellent business development/customer engagement skills in order to influence key contacts in the marketplace.

- Competitive Salary (depending on experience) £50K to £70K.
