Job description
We have a new and excellent opportunity which will be very varied and different to the norm, and would suit someone with experience in commercial lines insurance.
The role is a P&C Underwriting – Pricing & Product Risk Manager and ideally you will have come from a commercial underwriting or claims background.
You will be involved in working with the business to develop new products as well as enhance existing products by providing advice and support to key senior stakeholders including the CEO and CRO. You will also be providing opinions on key strategic projects (undertaken by the business) whilst ensuring that they are all aligned appropriately. You will be involved in testing scenarios, monitor and report emerging risks and managing the overall insurance risk. The role is varied and broad with exposure to all areas of the business and places emphasis on collaboration, networking and stakeholder management.
The company support a hybrid way of working where people can balance their time in a way that works best for them, and there would be on occasions be the requirement to be in either their London or Ipswich regional offices on an infrequent basis.
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE & WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Develop, manage and monitor application of the Product Approval Process (for new products and material product developments), including producing 2nd line opinions for the company and providing advice and support to the Finance Director, CEO, CRO and the Group on product design and performance relative to strategic plan and economic targets.
- Provide 2nd line insight on risk considerations for the strategic plan (including financial plans), Portfolio Management Process and any strategic developments to CRO, Finance Director and CEO. Develop and maintain own awareness of the business’ strategies and in all activities verify that actions taken are aligned to strategic goals.
- Performing review of key deals by considering them holistically to advise the Head of P&C Risk and CRO in providing their approval. These are typically multi-year deals which are crucial to the overall performance of the business and its position in the market.
- New: Lead independent reviews to provide a second opinion on key strategic projects (such as change transformations, pricing models) which will involve building strong relationships and stakeholder management and exposure and visibility to various Committees across the business. You will need to maintain awareness of business and claims environment conditions and developments to be adding value to the process.
- Actively support Head of P&C Risk in giving input to insurance risk-related scenarios for the purposes of scenario testing; monitoring and reporting of Emerging Risks; managing the Risk Appetite framework for Insurance Risk, including setting and monitoring risk appetites.
- Communicating regularly by providing updates to senior management and contributing to various reports which ensure strong governance standards are maintained and regulatory requirements are met. You would influence important discussions within the Risk Committees, Executive Committee and the Board through these reports as well as providing challenge and identifying areas requiring further support/investigation.
