A new opportunity has arisen working for a market leading insurance company based in Manchester. Within this role you could be dealing with Commercial Combined, Property Owners, Contractors, Motor Trade & Motor Fleet risks, although you don't need to be an expert in all.
They have stated that if you only have experience within one of the above products then they would provide if you wish full training on other commercial insurance sectors and tailor the role around your preferences.
This particular role is working within their commercial underwriting division where you will be required to maintain and maximise intermediary relationships within the underwriting team, working on existing business. Basically, you will be responsible for – Renewal retention, achieving Budget targets & ULR Ratio Targets, Customer Service and Underwriting standards.
You will need to have previously worked in a commercial insurance underwriting environment and have good product knowledge on general insurance risks.
They will also consider people from varying degrees of underwriting knowledge, so assistant underwriters to more senior technical referral level could be considered.
What you'll be doing:
- Support in the delivery of Existing Business financial plan (including rate carry and retention)
- Support in the delivery of New Business financial plan
- Underwrite in accordance with PUA and Underwriting Guidelines to meet required profit targets
- Deliver quality broker service in line with Broker Segmentation service levels
- Act as a referral & coaching point for lower level PUAs and support in improving Underwriting capability
- Effective usage and update of Tools and Systems
- Contribute to wider business activities
- Improve own contribution through active self-development
- Develop effective working relationships with the Trading Region and Head Office to support in delivery of objectives

Dependent on experience, salary ranges from £30k to £50k (Higher end salary would include being a technical referral point with the team), plus bonus, pension, and other staff benefits.
