Job description
This is a new and exciting opportunity as Deputy Regional Underwriting & Sales Manager to work for a global insurer and one that is going from strength to strength.
Working from the companies Manchester office, you will be responsible for finding, developing, and growing new business opportunities focusing on insurance products such as Commercial Combined, Property Owners, Liability, Retail and Catering businesses, plus other sectors.
You will co-lead the small team in the Northwest where you with be an integral part of the team servicing an allocated panel of brokers, maximising conversion/retention rates and profitability within the company’s product guidelines and developing close effective relationships with brokers
Ideal candidates will have previous experience within a commercial insurance underwriting environment and have previously built and maintained key broker relationships; and therefore, a Business Develop role in the past would be beneficial. You will also need to demonstrate that you have drive, self-motivation, and determination to achieve results, outstanding communication and interpersonal skills combined with a proven track record of team management, relationship management, and customer focus where you can be a team player but also be able to work under your own initiative.
The geographical areas responsible for would the whole of the North of England and Scotland.
Responsibilities:
Promoting Company:
Representative of the company in the northwest area. Work closely with business professional, brokers, clients and local organisations. Raise the Company’s profile and image.
Business development
Carrying out marketing and promotion activities. Promoting company products in the designated areas (Northwest of England). Co-ordinate with Company head office in actively developing new market and new business, marketing research. The aim is to make a significant contribution to the financial and underwriting performance of the company and overall profitability of the company.
Broker management
Manage and recruit brokers, introducers and cover-holders in the area. Supervise our agency performance and compliance, making sure to provide the right products, meet our customer needs and treat customer fairly.
Office Management
Ensure high quality underwriting, delivering satisfactory results. Provide a consistent top-quality service to our customers via broker/ agent distribution channel and direct clients.
Requirements:
- Extensive management, business development and commercial underwriting experience.
- Ability to drive income, business growth and broker penetration to achieve business targets set.
- Ability to lead strategy on trading and business development activities.
- Good knowledge of general insurance, underwriting procedures and insurance legislations and GDPR.
- Understanding of financial statement and ratios with good accounting and statistical skills.
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills and customer engagement skills.
- Excellent organisation and co-ordination skills.
- ACII or Degree level education (Desired).
