Job description
This a great new role as Business Development Manager working within our clients underwriting division for one of the UK’s leading specialist MGA’s operating within the UK today. They offer a range of bespoke insurance products with a bias to dealing with high risk and non-standard business.
You would be based either working from home or you can plug into to their many offices in and around the country, where you will cover Scotland & the Northeast where a good percentage of the working week would mean being out on the road.
This position requires key broker relationships to be managed and new business opportunities to be maximised, and therefore you will need to be driven, passionate, and hungry to develop new income streams.
You will be naturally charismatic and personable, possessing a strong technical understanding of commercial insurance with the ability to build strong client relations and generate new business. Joining a team of industry professionals, you will be mentored to allow you to become an expert if not already in that position. You will work with our team of Account Managers to build a book of clients and will be rewarded with an attractive bonus.
KEY AREAS OF THE ROLE:
As a Business Development Manager, you will have the following responsibilities:
New Business
- To generate new business sales in line with objectives set by responding to incoming sales enquiries in a timely manner, developing and maintaining introductory sources. Proactively remarketing and telephoning previous prospects by maximising the data contained within their internal systems.
- Ensuring compliance with the Insurer delegated underwriting authority to assess the viability of a prospect.
- Gathering and inputting information from the prospect into systems in order to generate an appropriate New Business Indications and also providing a summary of the buyer indications.
- Ongoing contact with the prospect to build a rapport and to clarify and sell the terms indicated.
- Upon acceptance of terms having the appropriate knowledge to ensure that all of the required information and documents have been obtained from the prospect and that correct modules and conditions are included in the policy documents.
- Completing the sale by way of a face-to-face meeting or other means to explain the policy procedures in detail and to obtain the required signatures.
Service
- Taking responsibility for any client issues is a key requirement along with the appropriate level of knowledge encompassing credit limits, claims and policy queries to respond accordingly.
- Liaising and assisting the administration team is a vital element in the overall level of service provided.
- To be available for client meetings as required.
Teamwork
- Assisting colleagues in sales and administration as and when required.
- Developing relationships with key Insurer personnel.
- Providing cover for sales colleagues during illness or holidays.
- Providing ongoing updates to management regarding new business and renewals.
