The role is a Broker Development Consultant – Team Leader where you will Lead and develop a small team of desk-based relationship managers to deliver the business objectives as a team and individually. It will also include managing relationships with a “remote” panel of brokers, to identify opportunities for them to profitably grow their Commercial business with them.
This role would be home based and managing your time effectively however there would be the requirement to be in either Kent or London branches around 2 days per week.
What you would be responsible for
- Leadership and management of the Broker Development Consultants team
- Profiling their business and identifying how you can add value to help them grow
- Promoting the Commercial proposition with your broker panel
- Manage multiple panel broker relationships to deliver profitable growth in line with or exceeding your financial objectives
- Develop a detailed profile of each broker’s business
- Develop and deliver joint business plans with selected brokers
- Successfully deliver sales campaign activity
- Develop a robust pipeline of future business opportunities – cases and deals
- Create strong internal relationships with key underwriting teams & team members across Commercial, and act as a focal point for the broker/company relationship
- Analyse the performance of panel brokers at individual and collective level and build action plans to ensure delivery of financial objectives

- Your customers will feel your passion for the business, their Commercial business, and its various propositions and products
- You will communicate clearly, openly and effectively, establishing rapport and building trust leading to great business relationships
- Collaborating with other teams (eg underwriting, claims, accounts) will ensure their customer experience continues to improve
- You’ll be motivated to actively develop your skills & behaviours to achieve continuous improvement in performance and results

Skills/capabilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to plan and organise activity and to deliver on deadlines
- A good level of financial awareness
- Ability to coach and develop others to create sustained improvement in skills and performance
Experience and knowledge
- Commercial insurance experience
- Background in dealing with intermediaries or b2b relationships
- Ability to influence and negotiate with other parties to achieve positive business outcomes
- Sales and/or business development experience in an intermediated environment
- Experience of managing or leading a team or a significant project or initiative
