A new opportunity has arisen working for a reputable global insurance company where you could be based anywhere within the UK.
Building on their success, the Commercial Motor Trade Specialist Unit is looking to enhance the current team with an engaging and forward-thinking Development Underwriter. Providing a fantastic opportunity to build key foundations and shape the narrative that will provide the company the exposure and scope for growth required.
We're looking for an ambitious and experienced individual to drive new and profitable growth through effective underwriting of new business cases.
Overview of the role & responsibilities: -
About you: -
- Support the formation and delivery of branch plans by being the face of the company in presenting propositions for larger Mid-Market and Mid Corp risks.
- Work with Trading Underwriters to negotiate coverage, wordings and pricing that differentiate and to meet customer needs.
- Proactively develop and manage a robust pipeline of qualified growth opportunities.
- Underwrite profitable new business, in line with established controls and practices.
- Manage underwriting relationships with key brokers from your designated accounts to deliver profitable growth.
- Utilise your coaching skills to develop our Underwriters to continually improve their technical and trading capability.
- Hold regular review meetings with our Branch Underwriting Manager.
About you: -
- Expert technical Motor Trade underwriting knowledge.
- Proven track record in underwriting Mid-Market and Mid-Corporate business.
- Record of securing and retaining large scale and complex business through developed senior broker/customer relationships.
- Evidence of previous technical and sales experience extending to effective pipeline management.
- Proven customer and broker portfolio relationship management.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

The overall package is also attractive and includes: -
- Competitive annual salary dependent on experience between £50K to £55K
